Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state initial examinations indicate the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the community for tips.
A high-ranking political figure commented the vandalism rendered him without words and required to be addressed quickly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
