Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a former world number one, has had a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is his first title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has secured 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent defended four early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
